Registration

You must have a library card in order to make use of the collections and services of the TIB/UB. Everyone who is registered with a place of residence in Germany can apply for this and thus register for use.
The terms of use and the tariffs are the basis for using the library and thus everything to do with lending and returning media, lending period extensions and reminder procedures.

Fill out the  online application and then register in person at one of the library locations with your personal identity card or passport and proof of residence from the Ordnungsamt (i.e. Public order office). If you are studying at the LUH please also bring your enrolment certificate with you. If you are under 18 years old, please print out these declaration of consent and take them filled out to the registration.

The fee will not be charged if you are a student of Leibniz Universität Hannover or if you already have a library card from a different Hanover library and you present this when registering.
A password is stored on the library card (your birth date DDMMYY). For your own security please change this password using the user information in the catalogue. Please choose a numerical combination as new password since this is necessary for using the self-service posting machines. The membership period lasts for two years and can then be extended free of charge.
