Library internship and post graduate training programme/höherer Dienst (i.e. Upper-level civil servants)

The training for the upper-level library service qualifies one for work in a specialized department and for a management role in libraries. A requirement for this is a completed (scientific) university education. An overview of all post graduate training programmes is offered by the Verein deutscher Bibliothekare (i.e. Association of German librarians)

The TIB/UB is one of eight libraries in Lower Saxony where the practical segment of a library internship can be completed. The training programme is relatively oriented to need, so the TIB/UB prefers to train graduates in technical and natural science subjects.
