Fire protection throughout the building
As part of extensive fire protection improvements, a series of building measures has been underway in the library building of Building 1 on Welfengarten since autumn 2009 and will continue until the middle of 2011. This includes the renovation of escape routes and fire compartments as well as smoke extraction facilities for all areas in the building. The entire fire alarm and emergency lighting systems are also being renovated.
Extra building work is taking place on the 2 periodicals floors. Here, additional fire compartments and a special periodicals area for particularly valuable stocks are being created.
