With literature management applications you can research in library catalogues and specialized databases and then transfer found materials to your own collection of data with a mouse click. Then you can have references and citation information created by your text processing without having to concern yourself with the uniform creation of the data.

Would your fellow students or staff also like to quote from the same literature? No problem. Exchange information with one another easily using a file from your own collections! Modern literature management systems can also administer citations as well as complete articles and E-books as PDF files.

With Citavi, for the first time all students and employees of the LUH have a free programme for convenient management of literature on one’s own PC or notebook.

You will find the software, a license key for the (otherwise subject to a charge) full version of the programme and all other relevant information at http://www.citavi.com/uni-hannover  To order your own personal license key all you need is your e-mail address from the LUH. It is not possible to order using a free-mail address (web.de, GMX, Gmail etc.). You will find a large amount of introductory information about Citavi under http://www.citavi.com/.

You can also participate in workshops at the TIB/UB Hanover where researching, administering, using and exchanging of information with Citavi is explained in compact form, and where your questions can be answered.

The campus license for Citavi is made available to you in cooperation with the Regionales Rechenzentrum Niedersachsen RRZN (i.e. Regional computing centre for Lower Saxony) and the TIB/UB and co-financed by tution fees.

As of now, the TIB/UB has made a set-up file available which simplifies the use of Citavi on campus.

The most important features:

  • At the click of a button, you can complete the stored book titles with TIB/UB shelf marks, information on the availability in the Hanoverian library or by interlibrary loans, etc (by preselecting the Hanoverian libraries, etc in Citavi’s search and enhancement functions).

  • Import filter for the most important catalogues and databases on the campus at a glance.

  • TIB/UB availability search for books and essays at the click of a button (by means of the integration of the library’s SFX link resolver).

You can download the set-up file here: InititalSettings.csd
To import, please call up "Einstellungen importieren/exportieren..." in Citavi’s ‘Extras’ menu. In the window which appears, click on "Durchsuchen..." and then select the downloaded file, InitialSettings.csd.
